Take a few minutes before the start of each day to optimize your workspace: Get rid of old clutter, arrange necessary items or documents so they’re readily available on your desk or computer desktop, and organize your notepads, pens, and other useful gadgets to have them handy at a moment’s notice. Scan your calendar to prepare yourself for the day ahead and to help you prioritize your timing. You’ll be much more productive throughout the entire day if you take the time to anticipate your needs and help yourself out by starting the day the right way.
Let Lists Help You
Creating a daily to-do list will not only help you prioritize tasks and paint a clear picture of everything on your plate but will also motivate you to be more productive by providing a sense of accomplishment as you check things off the list. By jotting everything down and keeping a convenient tab at hand, you’ll be able to free up some space in your mind to concentrate on specific tasks knowing that you have everything accounted for when you’re ready to move on to the next task.
Whether it’s completing a certain task by the end of the day or within the hour, you’ll be much more efficient if you allot specific time frames to your work. Use the timer on your phone or calendar notifications to hold yourself accountable for finishing a project or meeting a designated deadline. For some extra incentive, treat yourself to a small reward for sticking to your pre-determined timeframes (e.g. Schedule a longer lunch break after finishing a morning task or schedule a manicure or special dinner date after you’ve completed a lengthy project).
